Botanical Motifs : Flowers

For me, flowers transcend their existence as simple natural forms and instead embody the enduring love my father imparted throughout his life. He never failed to present flowers to my mother, and for me—who favored mushrooms over blossoms—he even went so far as to earn a professional certification in mushroom cultivation, allowing me to engage more deeply with what I cherished. In his desire to bring beauty into our home garden, he also pursued formal qualifications in horticulture, fully embracing flowers and plants as an essential part of his life.
My father held a profound reverence for nature, approaching it with the quiet wish to know the name of every wildflower he encountered. This devotion shaped my own sensibilities, granting me a unique lens through which I approach the theme of “flowers.” Within my practice, flowers are never mere decorative motifs; they embody the dedication, warmth, and living memory of love my father instilled. In this way, they serve not only as symbols of beauty, but as vessels of both personal meaning and artistic expression.
